Laser TV Screen

Installation, Operation & Care of a Laser TV Screen

For UST setups, the screen height should be chosen so that the Laser TV stands directly in front of the surface and the lamella direction of the CLR screen matches its light cone correctly. An electric TV screen or motorized screen can be conveniently extended and retracted via remote control; a floor screen is optimal if you do not want ceiling mounting.

Care instructions: Only lightly dust the surface, or wipe with a damp cloth; aggressive cleaners can damage the high-contrast coating. For frame screens, the flatness remains permanently stable; for roll-up screens, tension ensures the best possible flatness.

Practical examples from the living room

  • Bright family living room: CLR screen with strong contrast and good black level; often 120 inches on a frame screen or electric TV screen.
  • Flexible use without drilling: floor screen (rollable) plus UST projector – quickly set up, stowed away after the film.
  • Design focus: motorized screen disappears during the day, the Laser TV serves as a large-format TV replacement in the evening.

Compatibility & Product Selection

For the Laser TV screen, pay attention to information on Gain, Viewing Angle, Tension (if relevant), and UST suitability (CLR). For short/medium-throw projectors, an ALR screen is the choice.

Frequently Asked Questions about Laser TV Screens

Which laser TV screen is the best?

The best laser TV screen for a living room setup with a UST/laser TV is typically a CLR screen (Ceiling Light Rejecting). Its louvered structure specifically directs light projected from below to the viewer and blocks ceiling light, which visibly increases contrast and black levels. If you use a mid/long-throw projector (not UST), you can opt for a high-quality ALR screen; these only work with such projectors. In terms of design, a fixed frame screen (maximum flatness) and an electric/motorized TV screen (remote control, suitable for everyday use) offer the best combination of picture quality and convenience; a floor-rising screen is ideal if you want flexibility without ceiling mounting. For typical viewing distances, 100 inches and 120 inches are the most popular sizes; 150 inches works in larger rooms with a powerful laser projector.

What is the difference between a CLR and ALR (Fresnel) screen for laser TVs?

A CLR screen is specially designed for UST/laser TV: fine lamellae direct the obliquely incident light forward and suppress ambient light, which significantly improves contrast in daylight. Ideal for living rooms, as the black level is best in the evening, even better than with ALR (Fresnel).

In contrast, an ALR (Fresnel) screen reduces ambient light from multiple directions (lens-shaped print on the screen) (side/front), and is therefore only suitable for ultra-short throw projectors. In short: CLR = optimal for laser TV in the living roomALR = optimal for laser TV in the office.

An ALR screen for medium/long throw projectors has a directional effect and predominantly reflects light that does not hit the screen at a 90-degree angle, thus also blocking ambient light (from above or the side).

Can I use a laser TV in the living room?

Is a laser TV with the right screen suitable for a home cinema?

Absolut.
